Guatemala Cahabón 70% Cacao Dark Chocolate Bar

Guatemala Cahabón 70% Cacao Dark Chocolate Bar

Awarded Bronze in this year’s 2019 Academy of Chocolate Awards, Dark Bean to Bar under 90% !

I just can’t get enough of this Guatemalan Cahabón dark chocolate. I taste an aromatic complexity and a juicy fruitiness with a slight bitterness that is also somehow pleasant, like red wine. It’s like someone with an interesting story that I want to keep listening to. I do want to eat this chocolate with wine, even if I’m told that the tannins in each cause a bad clash :)

The Association of Integrated Development “OX EEK” Santa Maria Cahabón (ADIOESMAC) is situated in the mountainous Cahabón region of Guatemala. The association of indigenous Mayan families has been working on reforestation of the region with cacao and now works with and exports their unusually large and flavorful cacao through Cacao Verapaz S. A., a transparency and social impact-driven specialty cacao exporter in Guatemala.
